Lake Texana is no longer a state park. It is now managed by Brackenridge County. Although you don't have the programs a state park offers, the park is well maintained. The bathrooms have definitely been updated. There are many water sites available, some with full hookups. There are several hike/bike trails, plus the deer come out each evening and are fun to watch. The park is located in Edna a small town that does have a HEB ( grocery store ), Walmart and Whataburger ( best hamburger in Texas!). The only drawback was poor cell service at our site, some of the park I could get 2 bars on Verizon but only 1 bar at my site. We will definitely visit this park again this year.

Lake Texana RV Park & Campground used to be a Texas State Park and it still has the look and feel of state park – lots of trees, spacious sites, and lovely nature trails. It is now owned and operated by the Lavaca-Navidad River Authority as is its sister park, Brackenridge Park & Campground, just across the road. Staying in one park gives you access to the amenities at either. Brackenridge has more recreational opportunities (sports fields, equestrian center, paint ball course, mini-golf, etc) but the campsites are far closer together with less privacy.

We stayed at Texana for eight nights and enjoyed our stay (see our blog post for more pictures). Each campsite has a picnic table and firepit. Most sites are gravel and back-in with either full hook-ups or water and electric. There is a dump station, playground, and small nature center. Bathroom/shower facilities located throughout the park, which seemed reasonably clean. No laundry and the single machines at Breckenridge were in poor condition. Note: if you need laundry facilities avoid the laundromat in Edna it was filthy and half the machines were out of order.

The daily rate is $30, weekly rate is $180, and they offer a Good Sam discount on the daily rate. Since this is no longer a state park you avoid the daily entrance fee tacked on if you don’t have the annual Texas State Park pass.

There is free Wifi which worked fairly well midweek when the park was mostly empty, less so as it filled up on the weekends. Our Verizon service was unstable, often with such a poor signal we couldn’t even get the booster to work.

Brackenridge Recreation Complex is a park operated by the Lavaca-Navidad River Authority. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department terminated its lease in 2012 when the river authority assumed management. Two separate campgrounds here on Lake Texana, Brackenridge Plantation Recreation Area and Texana Park and Campground.
We camped at Texana Park and Campground with reservations made for FHU 88 days prior to arrival. Paid $5 on-line reservation fee.

Texana Park entrance gate is locked “after hours” and is secured with a keypunch entry pad. Our campsite #131, which was 60 feet long, backs into Lake Texana but is without any shade over the pad where we parked our camper. We had to level side-to-side. The pad condition was poor. Very nice view of the lake. Grass neatly mowed around the campground area. No vegetation between campsite, so wide-open view of your neighbors at each side and across the road. No wifi. Our campsite metal grill and campfire ring were consumed with corrosion and badly needed to be replaced.

A high amount of highway noise from TEXAS 111 where it crosses the lake.

Some “comfort stations” are only toilets/sinks in the campground. We found them clean and well maintained.
Quiet for the most part except for our party-animal neighbors who erected a large white event tent, complete with lights, at the back of their site where two dozen or so people were partying most of the night and lights were never turned off! So much for “quiet hours”! Lots of “foot traffic” through our campsite on their way to the event tent! We were surprised Park Management permitted the event tent there at a campsite. Our campsite fire ring was 30 feet from their event tent so no quiet evenings around our campfire! The only wildlife we saw in the campground were a couple of armadillos, who were being chased by the party animals!

Seven miles to the closest town, Edna, where there is a HEB grocery store, a couple gas stations and restaurants. Victoria is about a 30-minute drive where you will find Walmarts, HEB, Home Depot and major shopping retailers and restaurants. Don’t overlook The Morales Store and the Texana Historical Presbyterian Church!

Amazingly beautiful park. Huge campsites with abundant wildlife. Clean
quiet and well maintained. Only issue was the dreaded mosquitoes. My wife and I went for a walk and we were mauled by mosquitoes. The next morning we each had over 30 bites. We basically had to stay inside to keep the mosquitoes off us. Would definitely be a 5 star rating if it wasn’t for the pesky
mosquitoes.

We camped there twice - the first time with a tent the second time with the RV. The park is very nice. We had a camp site right at the lake with a fantastic view. The site had full hook up and sort of paved ground and was very even. We saw deer all over the place and they come really close. We also went swimming in the lake. It’s a bid muddy when walking in but the water was refreshing. We went for a walk through the woods and that’s where the mosquitoes ate us alive. Not even the bug spray helped. That was a bit annoying. However around the camp site it was fine. Overall a very nice park!

We loved this park - especially that the first few days we had the entire row /street to ourselves. The amount of wild life was so awesome. We saw deer frequently and babies, an armadillo, tons of birds. Great area to walk our dog. Restrooms and showers were clean. The park is beautiful. Only 30 minutes to El Campo for a little day visit. We definitely enjoyed our stay here.

Upon arriving I had a small electrical job to complete before could plug into the pedestal. One of the camp hosts was a retired electrician and offered to take care of it for me. Very thoughtful of him.
