Jones Lake State Park

Our GPS wanted us to take Jones Lake State Park Rd, that was closed off, about 300 yards before the main park entrance. They have good directions on their website to follow. Check-in was easy. We proceeded to site 8, back-in with FHUs and 50 AMP. The roads were narrow but one way. Our back-in was a little challenging with our 39’ 5th wheel due to brush across the road, but very doable. Utilities were centrally located to the pad. Water pressure was good at around 50 psi. We got 2 bars on Verizon, a variety of OTA channels, and clear shot to the southern sky for satellite. Six of the CG’s back-in sites are FHUs with both 30 & 50 AMP. However, there are very spacious pull thru sites, but no hook ups, not even electric. We could have extended our stay and dry camped in one of these spots but there’s no dump station. This made us wonder if the state ran out of money or if they are still building? This was a very nice CG with well spaced campsites and a good trail system. There are no water views from the CG but the lake is a short walk. The CG is essentially a large circle with even numbers to the inside and odd numbered pull thru sites and some smaller tent sites to the outside. There is also a group tent camping area. FHU sites are 2, 4, 6, 8, 18 & 20 and are long enough for large rigs. Back-in site 18, which is a handicap spot, could be a tight back-in for a trailer over 38’. Eighteen is pretty much a 90 degree turn plus there’s a water spigot and metal recycle container directly across the street to contend with. There are water spigots about every 4 sites (near sites 3, 7, 11, etc.) throughout the CG. There is a newer looking shower house conveniently located between sites 16 & 18 that we didn’t use. The 3 nights we stayed over a weekend, the CG was maybe half full so very quiet and peaceful. Elizabethtown has amenities such as Walmart (not a super), Tractor Supply (propane), Lion grocery, etc. If we could book one of the FHU sites or they add a dump station, we would stay here again.

The last review was spot on and detailed. This was a really nice small park with some full hookup sites (which were much needed in the heat while we were there). The sites were large and level. It was very quiet during the week with only a few spots taken. We didn’t use the bathhouse. The lake has fishing, swimming and a 4 mile hike around it, which was nice but a little too buggy for us. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here.

A small park with nicely laid out sites. Reservations only, we paid $81 plus $9 reservation fee for three nights. Our site was reserved as an electric only site. There is an odd configuration at the sites. There is a water spigot at the site, but you are not allowed to connect it to your RV, you may only use it to fill your fresh tank. Our site had a sewer hook-up as well. I would describe it as an electric only site with a dump station at your campsite. I’m not sure why they don’t rent it as a full hook-up site, but I assume they have some technical problems onsite. Although you are in the pine forest, sites are over 50 percent sun. Nice table and outdoor area. Site 8 was absolutely level and would handle any size rig. Some trails and a picnic area. They lake itself is not very impressive, highly tannic brown water with limited fishing. We came here because the location was right. It is an easy drive to Fort Bragg and over to Wilmington.

The park is beautiful. The area around it, spectacular. But, unlike the civilized states of South Carolina and others around North Carolina. North Carolina allows people to book sites for one day only in advance. WHY? WHY? WHY? I am from North Carolina and our parks suck due to this. People can book a site for Friday or Saturday only and screw anyone else who want to really explore the area around a park. I love my state but I hate the morons who run our State Park system. Ugh!

Our stay was very enjoyable. Stayed in site 8, but all sites appeared to be well laid out and mostly level. Sites are spaciously separated. Quiet and peaceful. They do have limited sites with electrical and we stayed during a weekend with 90+ temperature so most of the non-electric sites were vacant. Although there was a few brave tent campers. Mostly open which has its pros and cons. AC was in overdrive but Starlink worked with no problem. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of November, 2023. I knew nothing about this park - just needed something in this area for a few nights. Sign said to just go to our site, so we did. We were early, but no problem. Nice, long level and new site with FHU! Gorgeous new, spotless bathhouse. I enjoyed long hot showers there (as I had a fractured arm and needed hot water on my sore neck). I believe there are only 6 sites with the FHU and the rest dry camping. Interesting visitor center & history of the park - I had no idea. I actually enjoyed the park more once I learned about the history. Small book trade in front of the vis center, launch ramp & nice day use area. Well worth a visit & nice CG! And for some reason, I forgot to take any photos...

Super quiet park with only a handful of full-hook-up sites. The staff was nice and the grounds well-maintained. The sites are huge and mostly level. They also have a fully accessible handicapped space next to the bathhouse.

There is a pretty 4-mile loop walking trail, a canoe launch and impressive fishing pier - great place to watch sunrise / sunset.

The bathhouse is fairly new and well-maintained. They have private shower rooms with excellent water pressure and nice shower heads.
