“greeted by a hearse in the lobby”
Expect the unexpected at the Prospector Hotel and Casino. A turn-of-the-century hearse greets you in the lobby! Internationally recognized cowboy artist Tim Cox lithographs are on display in the hallway; themed rooms like the Asian, Hunter, Miner and Risqué. There are historical Nevada photographs and antiques throughout the lobby, casino and restaurant areas.
This is a great locally owned hotel. The little things here make it great, like little rubber ducks in the bathroom and so on. The hearse wasn't in the lobby anymore but there are four very nice vintage motorcycles in the lobby, which are the hotel owner's collection. The hotel has lots of art, sculptures, and interesting things to look at inside as well as neat old machinery and sculptures outside. I was outside and saw an older woman loading her bags in her car, the gardener said something like "You let me know if you need help ma'am, I'll be out here all morning tending to the landscaping". Classy guy. Great place.
This place was fantastic! Great decor, friendly staff, excellent food at Margaritas, and new, modern, comfy rooms- this was one of our favorite hotels on our cross country trip. And for $97/night! Can't beat it.
