“homemade Italian since 1953”
Nunzi's has been around for so long that its disappearance would be like losing the Perry Square Fountain. I keep thinking of the term "blue collar" when I think of this restaurant, but not in a condescending sense. In one way this is a paradigmatic Erie restaurant catering as it does more to the gourmand than to the gourmet. No strange Italian words on the menu. No uniformed servers. Besides the good taste of the food, though, cost considerations enhance Nunzi's ongoing popularity. Only a few of the dozens of listed entrees exceed $10. Anyone who orders a pasta entree and leaves Nunzi's without a full take out container in hand has either been very, very hungry or has a food capacity exceeding that of most mortals
Great food and great atmosphere! Their Italian meatballs are spot on.
