“Connecting people to wildlife & conservation”
The San Diego Zoo Safari Park, formerly known as the San Diego Wild Animal Park, is a zoo in the San Pasqual Valley area of San Diego, California, near Escondido. It is one of the largest tourist attractions in San Diego County. The Safari Park is an expansive wildlife sanctuary that is home to more than 3,500 animals representing more than 400 species. Its renowned botanical collection represents 3,500 species and 1.5 million specimens. Over half of the Park’s 1,800 acres (730 hectares) have been set aside as protected native species habitat. It is located 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of downtown San Diego in the San Pasqual Valley near Escondido, California.
Great to see the animals living together and not all of them behind small cages. They have small shows like the cheetah run where you can get some great pictures up close. There is a lot of walking and then a tram that takes you through the open part. We did the Roar and Snore camping and they had a special package to feed the giraffes on the trucks to get extra close. It is def something that takes a full day to see it all. If you are visiting I highly recommend the roar and snore, some tents even have beds! How many kids can say they spent the night at the zoo?
