“the british isles meet Fairhope Al”
The Church Mouse British import shop opened in 1999, a result of our British backgrounds and our love of the British Isles. In the spring of that year, we traveled to England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland to buy gift items, visited trade shows to find food importers and rented shop space in downtown Fairhope.By 2002 we realized that when we were in the U.K. we were spending nearly every spare minute exploring antique shops and malls and began to add small antiques to our collection, concentrating on china, silver and unusual decorative items and furniture. Within the next two years we found a property on South Church Street in Fairhope, purchased it and began building a two and a half story building that would reflect our love of the Cotswolds villages with their sunny golden stone shops, churches and homes. During recent years we have discovered fantastic antique markets and shopping areas in England and have concentrated on four areas in the Church Mouse - British foods and teas, antiques, outdoor clothing and fly-fishing equipment. Each year brings new friends, new adventures and new sources and we truly never know what is around the next corner!
