“Local history museum since 1908”

The Marion County Historical Society, Inc was founded in 1908 by Bernard L. Butcher, who was the State Superintendent of schools in 1880. Too often, local history is lost. To ensure that doesn't happen, The Marion County Historical Society, Inc has established a perpetual endowment fund with the Community Endowment Fund at WesBanco, the proceeds of which will be used to preserve the heritage of Fairmont and Marion County. The principal cannot be touched and the Society receives a dividend the first of each year.
