The emory is named after Emory Johnston (1898-1963), a hard working farmer from the toledo area. the hardwood behind the bar was harvested from family woods in 1986. much of that same hardwood is used in the benches, chairs and window sills in the emory. before construction began, the emory was gutted down to nothing, when all usable material was carefully stockpiled. much of that material was incorporated into the infrastructure of the new construction.
