Yosemite Trails Saddle & Sleigh Company

Today, my husband and I took the 2 hour trail ride with Joe. Oh my goodness, it was probably the best $90 we ever spent!! First, Joe was so knowledgeable about the trees, the forest, the history, we had great conversations throughout the entire trail. Loved that. Secondly, the horses are AMAZING!! I am a seasoned rider, but my husband hasn't been on a horse in 30+ years. We rode on numerous switchbacks, through creeks and streams, up and down steep terrain, through rocks and brush and our horses never batted an eye. They were so graceful and sure footed - I couldn't believe it. Periodically we would come to a difficult turn and my horse would actually stop and think. Then she would carefully guide me down. The best part was that they are neck reigned which means that a mere movement of the reigns left or right takes them there. A slight tug on the reigns and they come to an immediate stop. You barely have to utter a sound. These horses are so seasoned and experienced on these trails. I highly recommend them! I was totally at ease on this beauty named Jewel. My husband said he didn't think he'd enjoy it as much as he did because he hadn't been on a horse in so many years. The sights were breath taking and in my opinion, 2 hours was a perfect amount of time. Tip your guides well, they surely deserve it! I give this activity 5 out of 5 stars!! We will definitely come back again!
