Chuy's

The original chuy’s restaurant started in 1982 in Austin, Texas. It all began in an old abandoned Texas barbeque joint on Barton Springs Road. There was seating for about sixty, a dirt parking lot, a women's restroom the size of a broom closet & a men's room that was, uh, outside. Founders Mike Young 8. John Zapp decided to turn the location into a Mexican food restaurant. They spent all of their money on getting the restaurant opened, and they only had $20.00 left to spend on decor. Fortunately, they didn't let that stop them. We have a saying,“If you've seen one Chuy’s, you’ve seen one Chuy’s.” Each location has a personality of its own, but you can always expect signature pieces of our fun and eclectic decor - hand carved wooden fish, hubcaps hanging from the ceiling, uneven tile in funky colors, metal palm trees, colorful art, and, of course, the Elvis Shrine. You will feel right at home in any of our locations. We now have a cult-like following, and we maintain the reputation as the most fun and friendly spot to eat authentic Mexican food at a great price. We have several locations throughout Texas, and we are currently expanding across the south. We have an aggressive growth plan, and we hope to bring Chuy’s to your neighborhood very soon.
