“barrels of old-fashioned candy!”
Now that we are celebrating our 100th anniversary, the Floyd Country Store has become a real country store again. You can’t miss the barrels of old-fashioned candy at the front of the store and if you explore further you can find everything from hand-dipped ice cream to hard-wearing bib overalls. The store is a meeting place for the community, where folks gather to play checkers, enjoy a bowl of our homemade soup, buy fresh baked bread or pastries, and browse our unique selection of merchandise The clothing store features Carhartt, Woolrich, Columbia, Roper, Pointer, Rosie’s, and Stetson apparel along with many other items such as Henschel American-made hats, and Darn Tough socks made in Vermont.
Where to start--probably the Friday Night Jamboree. This regular event TRANFORMS Floyd. If you're in the area, you can't afford to miss it!! They fit 400 people into the modestly-sized country store, and the dancing spills out to the streets.
It's also a great spot to visit any day, however. You can get ice cream, coffee (free refills), bluegrass CDs (ask where the shelf on all the locals is), carhart jackets, childrens books, cutting boards, t-shirts, candy (BARRELS worth of it)...the list goes on.
Some say it's been there since 1913, or at least existed in some fashion.
Yummy food and a great atmosphere!
