“a valley within the valley”
Powell’s Fort Valley is often referred to as a valley within the valley, being centrally located in the greater Shenandoah Valley. We are the only Shenandoah Valley horseback riding stable and campground with direct access to the National Forest. Fort Valley Ranch is located within minutes of Luray Caverns in Luray, VA and only 1.5 scenic hours from Northern Virginia and Washington, DC.

Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on September 05, 2023Nice well spaced shaded sites. Some w/e. Some w/e/s. And tent camping. Best WiFi i’ve had in any campground. Hiking trails into the national forest. Trail rides if you like horseback riding. Nice Owners on site. Best way to get to the Cg is from Strasburg via Fort Valley road. Road from Edinburg off I81 is narrow and has sharp curves.

I had the park to myself for 4 of the 7 days I spent at Fort Valley. It's a horse ranch where you can bring your own horse or sign up for a trail ride. It is rustic. The toilets are pit style with plenty of flies but everything is clean. The showers (not near the toilets) are also very clean.
Wifi was good and strong, which was a blessing since there is absolutely no Verizon signal in the park. All in all, I would stay here again. If you need fancy bathrooms, this isn't your place, but for clean no frills camping, this IS your place. Don't let the drive scare you away. I'm new to this, pulling a 25ft travel trailer. If I can do it, you can too.

What a great find! Small family owned campground with about 20 sites. Some tent sites, some 20 amp/water, some 30 amp/water sites. No problem with water pressure. We stayed in #8 - large, mostly level site. Pit toilets only, and 2 hot showers in another building. Lovely location. Great wifi! Not at all crowded. Close to Shenandoah NP and Luray. Would stay here again in a heartbeat! We camped at Fort Valley Ranch in a Motorhome.

We had a wonderful stay at this campground. The owners and staff are welcoming and very helpful. The sites are large and easy to pull in. Their wifi worked well. We did a trail ride with them as well, and it was great. The guides were fantastic, and the ride was through the woods where we saw a herd of deer. The trail was hilly and fun to ride, even for inexperienced riders. The campground was very peaceful and clean, we will definitely stay here again.

What a magical spot! The location is very clean, to include the bathrooms and showers. The staff and owners are accommodating and attentive to your needs. Melissa was our horse ride guide and was phenomenal. She is very knowledgable when it comes to horses and is a wonderful source for information on the local area and national camping sites. We will make this an annual trip for our family. Travel trailer sites are not very level.
