“Family owned and operated”
Fiesta Vineyard & Winery is nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill Country at Bend along the Colorado River. We have been blessed with our ranch that has been in our family for six generations.
We were surprised how sweet all the wines were. Having chosen the most dry wine on the menu we found it still to be too sweet for our taste.
The Traveling Winers on Texas Wine Trail
What a friendly atmosphere at this tasting-room-only in downtown Fredericksburg! When we first walked in, we were a bit concerned. We haven’t really enjoyed tasting-room-only experiences so much in the past, and that is why we purposely put this winery on our tour so that we could “give her another try”. We understand that there is a business marketing goal with tasting-room-only locations, and that is to bring the wine to the masses. Financially, this makes complete sense for a business, especially if the true winery is way out in the middle of nowhere. The challenge is, at least from the VT “winers” point of view, to make the tasting-room-only experience have the same romantic “feel” as the home-based vineyard & winery. We can honestly say that Fiesta Winery has accomplished this goal!
We were informed by KK, the tasting room manager and our personal hostess, that the philosophy of Fiesta Winery is to be able to relax, kick back, and enjoy life with old and new friends. Hence, the stools at the bar and the tall bar-like tables with tall stools lining the walls. The place was pretty packed when we arrived and there was no place to sit down or even grab a spot standing at the bar. On first take, this was a bit disappointing because we weren’t sure how we were going to be able to taste. None of the other patrons looked like they were anywhere near ready to leave! And we noticed this because many of them were drinking a full-sized pour of wine….hmmmmm…..very strange in a tasting room. Thanks to KK, we found out patience, waited until there was space at the bar, took our places and began to learn.
From the outset we learned of their philosophy (and the fact that you can purchase a full glass of wine) which then explained why folks were simply hanging out and having a good time. It is definitely a place to do exactly that! What a cool philosophy, and we are impressed with the owners, and KK, for sticking to their guns (haha….perfect for Texas!) and their beliefs in taking it easy! So….this winery is definitely worth a visit in our opinion. And if you want to continue the adventure with Fiesta Winery, take the time to drive to their flagship vineyards and winery in Lometa, Texas. We did and really fell in love with the place (read the blog!)
