A great place for a challenging hike where you are rewarded with a very nice view of the Bay Area. The peak overlooks the Santa Clara valley and the Bay. To the east you can see Livermore and on a clear day, the Sierra Nevada. Bring a coat in the Fall and Winter.
This is a really cool hike that goes through the foothills. When I went it was early spring and the grass was really green and there were cows every where. A few of them were even passing the trail. The day I went was a cloudy day, but mission peak is so high that we were able to pass through the cloud layer and reach the sunny top with absolutely amazing views of the south bay.
