Please allow two hours to tour the visitor center, 20 historic buildings and scenic overlooks. Scheduled guided tours are available mid-June through August. The park also offers camping, picnicking and hiking. See a map of the townsite. Pets accompanied by and under the control of their human friends are welcomed on the grounds of this site. Pets may not enter any building. For further information, please refer to the DNR web page, Pets in State Park Campgrounds. Accessibility The visitor center is accessible to people who have a mobility impairment. Some paths are graded, packed crushed rock. A wheelchair-accessible vault toilet is located in the townsite. Designated parking is available. A wheelchair may be borrowed, subject to availability.
This is worth the hike. The view of Lake Michigan is as always one to experience. My family has stories of visiting this place in its prime. You still can find ore in the water. This is only for those who like rustic camping sites or stay on a boat.
