“The Walleye Capital of North Dakota!”

On the north shore of giant Lake Sakakawea, Ft. Stevenson State Park is known as the walleye capital of North Dakota. A favorite spot for sportsmen to experience the great fishing on the lake, it is home to the Governor's Cup Walleye Fishing Derby, as well as a variety of other fishing tournaments. It also features a modern campground, sleeping cabins, visitor center, interpretive trails and prairie dog town, as well as boat launching facilities.

Beautiful, paved, and wonderful people camping here! I would love to go back. Management is great and accommodating and you are able to really enjoy your time with friends and family.

This gem on the prairie offers excellent access to Lake Sakakawea with two marinas on either side of the park, and well maintained camp sites. While we enjoy our time here mostly due to the water access, it still offers excellent camping, especially if you can get into to pull thru full service sites which gives you a ridiculous amount of space, but these book fast. The back in sites on the other hand are much more crowded, so get into the pull thru sites if you can.

On our journey across ND we stayed in two state campground. Both were outstanding. This and the other had large pull through sited with wide grassy areas separating other sites. Paved roads, level sites and full facilities. Truly outstanding.
