“the sleepy town of Grantville”

Grantville is a city in Coweta County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,309 at the 2000 census. The 2010 census shows a population of 3,041. A number of episodes of the AMC series The Walking Dead were shot in the town. Since the shooting of the series tourism to the town has increased greatly. Making it an important industry. Grantville was chosen as a location in The Walking Dead because of the number of faded and dilapidated buildings that give parts of the town a "post-apocalyptic" feeling. A result of the decline in the cotton industry in the area. The movies Lawless and Broken Bridges were also both shot in Grantville.

We went to Grantville to take a tour of Morgan's apartment.
You are supposed to be able to purchase tickets at Z is for Zombie, which is across the street. When we we went, however, the doors were locked even though it was during the posted business hours, and there was no indication of when the shop clerk would be back.
A local suggested that we head over to Morgan's apt and look for her there. The door was open, and when we asked the people sitting outside, they directed us upstairs. We proceeded to a reception desk, but no one was there. There were about 5 other people wandering around, who all had experienced the same thing we did. We decided to take a look around the apartment, which was very cool. Eventually, we went downstairs, happy to have seen it but disappointed that we couldn't take the actual tour.
As we were leaving, a blonde woman started yelling at us. She asked if we had been inside, and we explained that we were directed inside to look for the person giving the tours. She continued to yell at us that this was her business and that there is a charge for the tour. Despite how rude she was, we were still interested in taking the tour. We asked what time it started and how much tickets were, but instead of selling us tickets, she just continued to yell that we shouldn't have gone in. Eventually, we gave up.
The apartment is really cool, and I'm sure the tour is fun, but watch out for the blonde tour guide.

You can take a guided tour of all the locations where they have filmed in the town. The main attraction is going into Morgans apartment. The tour guide is very nice and helpful. He will let you know how to get to the other filming locations in Georgia.

49 miles south of Atlanta is the sleepy town of Grantville, a Walking Dead Filming Location. A rural southern town virtually abandoned after its cotton mill closed. Now, it’s pretty much a ghost town. However, this ruined wasteland is seeing new life as a major filming location for deliciously-macabre soap opera, The Walking Dead…and you’re invited to visit.

Our family went to Grantville today from South Carolina and took a self tour...we found Morgans Apt, there was a phone number to call, so we called Mary to see if we could tour Morgans appt, she was coming down the stairs from another tour..she told us we could join their tour or go ahead and go up to the apt, we went upstairs, took pictures and looked at all the cool things from TWD...Mary was the best, she told us all the facts from the Clear episodes and said she was attending a funeral for the guy that had painted the room in a couple of hours...she could have turned us away, but she did not...Take the tour with Mary and appreciate what Grantville offers us true Walking Dead Fans!!
