“the number one Massachusetts Ski Resort”
This MA ski area is located on East Mountain and provides 110 acres of skiing, spread across 22 trails. All ski trails are covered with snowmaking. A family oriented ski area that is ideal for those just learning to ski or learning to snowboard. This Massachusetts ski area is located close to NYC and close to most of CT thanks to easy access provided by the major travel corridors of Route 8, Route 7, the Taconic Parkway or the Mass Pike. The ski mountain's convenient location in south western Massachusetts makes for easy day-trips for those coming to enjoy a day of downhill skiing a short drive from NYC, Long Island, NJ, CT. Ski Butternut is the best ski area in the Berkshire mountains of south western Mass.
My home mountain. Butternut is not challenging but always a sunny ski with really great grooming techniques. If you head to Butternut on a weekday at 8am, you're sure to get at least 3 runs in without seeing anyone else on your trails. It's great for ripping groomers on the weekday, but the weekend can get hectic here since it is the family mountain of choice. Similarly, the lifts are insanely slow so bring your ski buddy. Head to the triple chair (on the far side of the mountain by the Upper Lodge) for steeper, longer stuff and a faster lift ride. Obviously if you're really trying to get some good skiing in...head to Jimminy Peak....or VT
