“Escape to the Mountains!”
Paris Mountain State Park’s roots date as far back as the Great Depression, when it was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. This heritage can still be seen in the preserved stone and timber outside of the renovated bathhouse, now known as the Park Center. Inside, the center features historical exhibits and a classroom to teach young and old about the park’s ecology. Paris Mountain is located in the rapidly-developing city of Greenville, South Carolina, and although the park was once a rural retreat, bikers, hikers and those visiting Camp Buckhorn now keep the park bustling year round. When it comes to camping in state parks, the Paris Mountain State Park camping facilities are top-notch and include paved camping sites, 13 of which offer tent pads, and five trailside campsites around the North Lake Trail Loop. Whether you’re coming from out of state or just looking to escape from Greenville, South Carolina for a few days, make your Paris Mountain State Park camping reservations and prepare for a weekend of great outdoor recreation!

There is a long thin road winding around the mountain. Very scary driving up since it’s not really big enough for cars going different directions. Getting into our spot was pretty difficult. The campground itself is nice, but definitely set up for smaller rigs or tents. We have a 45 ft bus and we wouldn’t try this one again.

We stayed here two nights at the end of June, 2016 because we wanted to be close to downtown Greenville, so we could explore that area. The campground is about 15 to 20 minutes from downtown. It is a beautiful state park and very well maintained.
The campground has 39 sites all of which offer water and electric hookups. There is a dump station located in the park and the bathrooms offer hot showers and are well maintained. Our cost was $19 a night to camp here. The two night we were there it rained both nights so we weren’t able to hang out to much at our campsite, but each campsite does have a picnic table and fire ring. We stayed in Site 19 and it was a pull-thru, but in our opinion Site 31 was one of the best sites. It was a large pull-thru site that once your parked your rig in it you really had a nice private space for eating at the picnic table or sitting at the fire pit.
The park offers the following activities: fishing, boating (you can rent canoes/kayaks and pedal boats) there is a very nice playground, open green space to play volleyball or soccer/football, swimming, hiking and biking. We of course visited the playground and did a bit of hiking.
WiFi and cell phone reception was very good in this park.
Side comment about the park is that when you’re driving in (especially with your camper) the road to the campground is pretty twisty and steep. The road in and out is a two lane road that at some points there is really not enough room for two cars to go thru especially with a trailer attached to your truck. Other than that the park is amazing. Would definitely camp here again.

We exerted our stay a few nights and that still wasn't enough time at this park. The visitors center is very nice with Adirondack chairs overlooking a small lake out back. The trail system is perfect for an evening or morning stroll. Sites are not the most private we've experienced but the proximity to downtown Greenville and westward to the beautiful South Carolina mountain ranges can't be beat. Other lovely state parks in the area include Jones Gap and Table Rock State Park. We choose to day trip to each. Make sure to grab a sando to go (and a peanut butter cookie) from Upcountry Provisions in Travelers Rest for the perfect hiking lunch in the area.

We stayed at Paris Mountain State Park while passing through the area. We have family in Greenville so this was an excellent location for us. The majority of the sites are not level, and some are in need of desperate repair but sites 36-38 are definitely the most level. The bathhouse was clean and simple, water was hot so I was happy. We didn't test the Wifi but did have 4 bars of 4G Verizon. Partial hookups only at this park with a dump-station on the way out. This is an older park set on a small mountain so the roads are windy with some sharp turns, make sure to honk your horn as you round the corners as they are completely blind and folks in cars tend to go a bit fast.
The park has some easy hiking trails and there is a small Lake for swimming and boating in season. Check-in was a piece of cake, we called directly to book a site.
Downtown Greenville is only a short drive away with great food, shopping, and parks to keep your belly full, wallets empty and family entertained.

Let me start by saying if you have a rig over 25-27 feet, I really wouldn't recommend this campground - the road down to the it is pretty tight and windy and the sites just aren't mean for big rigs.
We'd stay here again, but we weren't wow'd by the park and wouldn't go out of our way to come back. It's an older CCC park with a pretty lake, and a small wooded campground. Most sites have some leveling or sloping issues. All in all an okay place to stay if you want to be in the Greenville area, but nothing spectacular.

Paris Mountain was a base to further explore Greenville, which was a short drive away. The campground was in the back of the park on a winding and somewhat narrow road. We were misinformed when we pulled in. We were initially told at the gate to get with the camp host to get our pass, but they were not in at the time. Later that night, around 9pm, the ranger knocked on our door and was kind enough to issue our pass.
The site were large and offered 20A/30A service and water. The dump station was awkward and pitched the opposite way of the drain outlet, so only about 1/2 of my tanks drained.
The park facilities were dated, but clean. The camper sites were easy in and out. We had a pull through that was really convenient. There was a nice playground that my 3 year old enjoyed. They offered canoe rentals on the weekend.
Downtown Greenville is building up, but still offers unique sights like the Liberty Bridge at Falls Park. In the opposite direction from Greenville, Poinsett Bridge was a cool find on the way to check out Traveler's Rest.

This was a nice state park campground. I will echo others that these are not level sites. I was only car camping in a Fit, so I afound semi-level spot on 17 right up against the rear of the site. Very quiet and dark campground. Only light came from others rigs or when the lights flipped on in the bathhouses when in use. Very nice camp hosts as well.
Men's side of the bathhouse was two toilets, two sinks, and two 3/4 doored shower stalls, all very clean. No soap or paper towels at sinks, so make sure to bring your own.
You will want to arrive your first day prior to 6pm. You will want to talk to the hosts and get the main entrance gate code. The main gate is closed and locked at 6p. Kind of neat knowing that only you and the other camp guests are the only ones in the park.
I would return. Thinking about Christmastime.

The biggest thing this park has going for it is the location. Sites are set back from the road and there's a pretty lake at the park. Small number of sites and quality is really mixed, plus the entry is very narrow and windy. Not a spot for big rigs.
Staff and hosts weren't super helpful, and there seemed to be a lot of mix ups on site reservations vs. walk up availability while we were there.
