“the most complete and substantial of the remaining bowstrings in Texas”
This is the most complete and substantial of the remaining bowstrings in Texas. Contracted by the King Bridge Company for the county in 1884. The bridge is located on the old Waco-Hamilton road (now Hamilton CR 301 ) at the Leon river and is included in the State Transportation Enhancement Program. It will be a feature in the State approved Pecan Creek Park in Hamilton. At present it is the only bridge anywhere close and is still in use.
I don't believe the CR 103 bridge is the bowstring bridge. Bullman Bridge is curved at the top, and the one over Bear Creek on CR 103 is squared at the top. It is collapsed on one end, as well.
No longer on CR 301. I read it was moved to the other side of town on CR 101 but I haven't been to check that information out for myself.
Drove straight through and didn’t see a bridge where it’s marked.
