“where the locals go to eat good food”
The cookhouse was critical to the success of North Carolina’s sawmill camps. Back in the 1800s, food was the only comfort for the loggers who labored from dawn till dusk to send timber down the Cape Fear River to the sawmills. A great cook was essential in retaining company men. We named our restaurant as a salute to these cooks who provided fresh, hearty meals with the flavor of home.
