“A Myriad of Opportunities for Relaxation!”
This popular park provides a beautiful backdrop for a wide range of land and water activities, recreation and scenic trails. Dogs of all sizes are allowed at no additional fee. Dogs may not be left unattended, and they must be leashed. Beed's Lake has a very popular campground. A total of 99 of the 144 sites have electrical hookups. Modern restroom and shower facilities are available, as is a sanitary dump station. A two-mile trail provides a unique hiking experience for visitors as it follows the shoreline around Beed's Lake. At the spillway, visitors can hike to the base of the dam and experience a cool refreshing mist as water rolls down the beautiful limestone face. This trail may be utilized by hikers, bicyclists, cross-country skiers and joggers. The beautiful lake, fed by Spring Creek, is a popular destination for anglers, year-round. Bass, catfish, and panfish are available to challenge anglers. Several fishing jetties and docks are located on the south shore of the lake and are accessible to mobility impaired visitors. Beed's Lake is a popular boating spot due to its scenic beauty. Motors of any size may be used at "no wake" speeds on the lake. A modern boat ramp is located on the southern shore of the lake. Beed's Lake State Park has provided visitors with a variety of recreational opportunities since 1934. One unique feature of the park is the causeway that crosses the lake near the lodge. It provides more than one-third of a mile of great shoreline fishing as well as a convenient pathway for hikers and joggers. Another focal point of the park is the unusual 170 foot-long spillway with horizontal layers of limestone dropping abruptly 40 feet. It was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. In 1857, T.K. Hansbury built the first dam to supply water for the operation of a sawmill. Two years later, water power was used to operate a flour mill. William Beed put in the long causeway when he bought the property in 1864. He operated the mill until 1903.

The campground host was one of the nicest hosts I have ever encountered. There were no fireworks at the park which is a first for us. What a relief! The host said she would put a stop to any fireworks at the park because they are against the law. She was very helpful in that she took us to our site and directed us as to the position we're were to park. We have discovered that we like the outer sites best, otherwise, your front door is facing your neighbor's front door. We have never encountered this. There is no water at the sites, but there are faucets around to get water.

Been here for so far 3 nights. Nice park hosts do a great job of getting you to your site and letting you know the boundaries of you site. Restrooms and showers were very clean and well maintained. They were VERY warm. Park has a good amount of hiking areas.

I'm not sure what was going on when we arrived on Friday June 18th, 2021 but all of the sites marked as "non-reservable" first come, first served sites had reservation tags on them for up to 3 days in the future. We couldn't get a FCFS site. See attached photo of campsite map where the Circle-X icon indicates non-reservable sites. Plus, campers were packed in like cordwood. We skipped this State Park and went to a nearby county park.

A relaxing day by the water. An easy, flat trail around the lake. Plenty of fish and beautiful sunset. Decent space between campsites, provided it's not crowded, which it wasn't upon my visit.
