“mansion and park”
Built on a bluff overlooking the Susquehanna River, Fort Hunter Mansion and Park has served as a war fort, a hub for frontier commerce, and an exclusive private estate. Now preserved and open to the public, Fort Hunter Mansion and Park invites you to explore Pennsylvania's rich history.
Great park to get out and stretch your legs. Pretty views of the water, mountains, and you can take some pictures of the Rockville Bridge, too.
This should also be placed under history as well. Fort Hunter Park and Mansion sit on a historic fort grounds. During the Colonial times, their was once a supply fort on the Susquehanna River, the mansion currently sits on top of this old block house used to help supply Fort Augusta. Now it is a nice open green space with 2 playgrounds, access to the river, a covered bridge, barn, horse barn, and bathrooms. The flush bathroom is on the eastern side of the park. The park is separated by Front Street. They are currently building a kayak and canoe launch on the north end of the park.
