“in the heart of the Rockies”
Whether you're exploring the Rocky Mountain beauty of Montana or you're on a longer journey traveling throughout the West, the new Helena North KOA provides a convenient base camp! It lies just half a mile off I-15, with plenty of Pull-Thru RV sites for larger rigs. All RV sites have 30 or 50 amp service, along with a patio area and picnic table. In Helena, Montana's state capital, you can hop aboard the Last Chance Tour Train for an engaging open-air ride around the capitol grounds, through the mansion district and past a restored miner's village. About 10 miles north, boat tours take visitors up the Missouri River through a canyon of towering limestone walls - a historic route traveled by Lewis and Clark, who dubbed it the Gates of the Mountains. You'll find other spectacular mountain scenery to the north and south; Helena lies midway between Glacier and Yellowstone national parks.

Campsites were gravel with grass and decent separation between them. They had picnic tables on small cement pads. Some pretty mountain views in the distance made it a little nicer.
The location is about ten miles from the center of town. The campground has restrooms, showers and a laundry room - older equipment but serviceable. There is also a "TV and lounge room" which we did not check out. They also offer propane. We heard helicopters flying about every day, not sure if that was normal.
There is a "dog-walk" area, which is really just the back of some private residences that are walled off.

We had an end site - plenty of room for our 35' DP and our Jeep Cherokee. Nice grass on both sides of site. We don't need laundry or showers so don't know how they are. They are in a convenient center location. Very easy access. Friendly staff. Small store with essentials. Seven miles north of groceries, eateries, major stores, etc. Two blocks from fuel station, convenience store and a very expensive restaurant.
Gravel site was level when we pulled in, no jacks required! FHUs with 50 amp - spaced strangely, but they all work well. In park WiFi didn't work for us. Our satellite worked well. Decent water pressure.

Nice park. Quiet at night. Interior roads easy to navigate. They are gravel and dirt so you will get dusty. Mostly pull thru sites and the majority are plenty long enough. The sites are gravel and decently level. There is a small grassy area. There is a little shade from trees but they don't block line of sight for satellite. Biggest ding is the sites are close together so when it's full it's crowded. And they stay pretty busy. The back in sites appear to be monthly or long term. They are gravel with very little spacing between sites and no grass. Electric worked fine but water pressure low sometimes. WII FI just okay – get dropped a lot and it can be slow. Verizon had 4g with 4 bars. Easy drive to shopping and downtown Helena which is very accessible. Lots of hikes in the wonderful city park. Also a great farmer's market in season. There is a bike path right outside the park that is about 3-4 miles one way. We expected to be here a couple nights and stayed 2 weeks. We would return.

We'd normally avoid RV parks but we were working on the Helena GeoTour and wanted to stay close to town for a couple days. Roads and sites are gravel, but the park does have all the expected amenities. The dog park features a fire hydrant but nothing else. There is grass between each space and restrooms in two locations. Our price does reflect Good Sam discount ($5). Next time we come to Helena, I suspect we'll try to get in to BLM's Devil's Elbow. It's a ways out of town but a BEAUTIFUL setting.

We stopped at Lincoln Road RV Park to break up the trip to Glacier NP in the middle of a heat wave. The management was very responsive in calling us back and helping us find a spot when we called last minute.
The park's best features are its location right off the highway, number of pull-through spaces, and reliable hook-ups and wi-fi. On the flip side, it's pretty tight between spots so depending on the size of your neighbor's rig, can feel pretty crowded or get a little loud. And, while dogs are welcomed, the dog area is barren without a lot of grass.
Overall, this was a convenient stop and nice park with some limitations to be aware of.

In town for a swim meet downtown. Skipped another place down the road that was a dump. We have a small trailer and used to boondocking so no hookups needed. This place is very clean and the people are super nice.

The owner was pleasant and each site had a little grass patch which our dogs loved. It’s a typical RV park and you’re pretty close to your neighbor, but we had a nice time and it never got rowdy. A small laundromat is available and bathrooms were the cleanest we’d ever seen in an RV park! Cell service was great with our booster for ATT and Verizon.

It's a nice campground with a convenient location for access to Helena and the surrounding area. The park is very clean and well maintained. The staff are all super friendly. No noise problems at all.
There is a grassy space with a tree for shade between each site. They water it every night, so the grass is nice and green (don't leave your stuff outside overnight, or it will get wet). There is an area to walk dogs, and there is a large grassy area at the back of the park if you want space for kids to run around. Each site has a picnic table but no fire ring (assuming because there are often fire bans). Bathrooms and laundry are available, but we didn't use them, so I can't comment on the condition. They also sell propane, but it's a bit overpriced.
Wifi is available, and while it isn't fast, it was enough for general browsing. If you need faster speeds, I was getting ~75 mbps down and 8 mpbs up with Verizon. We used Verizon for work video calls and the Wifi for everything else.
All of that said, it's still an RV park. If you're looking for a destination for camping alone, you'll probably be happier somewhere east along the water or south in the mountains. We were visiting family in Helena, so we wanted something that was nearby. This place was perfect for that. You're 10-15 min from downtown Helena. You're also right along Rt 15, so it's a good stopover if you're just passing through for a night. A lot of people seem to only stay for a day or two max, so that's probably how they're using it.
No pokestops in the campground, but the gas station less than a mile down the road has 2.

A quiet location, not terribly far from shopping and downtown. The staff is what did it for us - extremely friendly and helpful, helping us find a truck wash and recommendations for dinner. Easy shot to shopping and great coffee just around the corner.

Prior reviews showed a site price of approximately $42/night. I was informed by the staff person at the campground that the rates are not $60+/night because of the new KOA affiliation. Pretty pricey for an area with so many choices. We did not stay here and cannot comment on the quality of the park.
