“overlooking the scenic Patuxent River”
Overlooking the scenic Patuxent River in Southern Maryland, Sotterley Plantation encompasses nearly 95 acres of rolling meadows, gardens and shoreline. It is the only remaining Tidewater plantation in Maryland that is open to the public with a full range of visitor activities and educational programs. Sotterley's significant architecture features the 1703 Plantation House using post-in-ground construction, a rare c. 1830’s restored Slave Cabin, and a full array of outbuildings set amidst rolling fields, Colonial Revival gardens, and riverfront. Sotterley Plantation stands majestically on the banks of the Patuxent River.
