“a giant corn stalk”
Hoopeston, the "Sweet Corn Capital of the Nation" and home to the Hoopeston High School "Cornjerkers," is now home to a sixteen foot corn stalk. The creation of Hoopeston High alum, Dana Thomas, an artist living in nearby Rossville, this metal and wood sculpture originally stood at the Charlie Rademacher Farm near Route 1 and Route 136 south of Rossville. It was moved in July, 2004 to McFerren Park in Hoopeston as a permanent home.[Kevin R. Young, 01/08/2005]
We looked through the town for the cornstalk and were unable to locate it and after stopping at a local restaurant (Mr B's Cafe) and asking about the cornstalk, we found out that the cornstalk has been removed.
