“A woodland garden showcasing hydrangeas”
Aldridge Botanical Gardens is a woodland garden showcasing hydrangeas, including the Snowflake Hydrangea patented by Eddie Aldridge. One can also enjoy a half-mile walk around the five-acre lake, have a picnic or attend the many events hosted throughout the year, including plant sales, art shows, seminars and many other events. The Garden also features the Kay and Eddie Aldridge Art and Historial Museum and enjoy the works of area artists, including the largest public collection of Frank Fleming bronze sculptures. Its facilities may be rented for weddings, parties and meetings as well.
This is a great choice for a picnic stop, especially if you're traveling with kids. Beautiful grounds, great trails and the place is teeming with wildlife...though the Canada geese are not so wild anymore. They boldly tried to share my 1 yr old's PB&J! The kids really enjoyed this place. In the 30-45 mins we spent here, we saw: aforementioned geese, turtles, a water snake, ducks, giant fish and a rabbit. Blindly choosing a picnic spot on a map can be hit or miss. You can put this one in the 'hit' column.
