“boasts a 360-degree view of the Appalachian Mountains”
At an elevation of 4,629 feet, Max Patch boasts a 360-degree view of the Appalachian Mountains including the Blue Ridge and the Smokies. The Appalachian Trail crosses the top of the grassy bald. Wildflowers bloom there in the spring and fantastic leaf color can be seen in the fall. A short hike from the parking area takes you to the top. No bathroom facilities.
One of my favorite spots to visit! First time ever going was in March and the mountain still had snow on top of it so if you go during early spring bring a jacket! The GPS said we had arrived only halfway up the mountain but we just shut it off and kept driving until we finally came to the small parking area! The drive up was very secluded and beautiful and the view once you get to the top is absolutely breathtaking! Will definitely be going back and perhaps pitch a tent the next time.
This was a favorite stop along the A.T. :)
