“downtown Houston has good coffee now”
Just announced yesterday, The Honeymoon Cafe & Bar is coming to 300 Main Street this spring. Bartrepreneurs Brad Moore and Ryan Rouse - of Grand Prize Bar, Goro & Gun and Lei Low (also coming soon) - will be the proprietors of Honeymoon, in addition to Matt Toomey and Charlotte Mitchell of Heights' coffee shop, Boomtown Coffee. Here are five fun things we found out about the place.1. With a large focus on coffee, Boomtown will source and roast all the beans used at the cafe. Expect to find an edited, though high quality menu of pulled coffees.2. Caffe correto - an Italian way of serving a shot of espresso with a shot of liqueur - will be one of their specialties.3. Food will consist of breakfast, lunch and snacks, with a menu designed by consulting chef Amanda McGraw (formerly of Brasserie 19). Think sandwiches, charcuterie, quiche, salads and soups.4. There will be cocktails. Next door neighbor, Captain Foxheart's Bad News Bar & Spirit Lodge's Justin Burrow is creating a program that features classics and New Orleans favorites along with fortified and old-world wines, liqueurs and more.5. Some of the above liqueurs will be rare and "harder to find around town," making up an "expansive list."
