Benson's Wild Animal Farm was a long-running private zoo and amusement park in Hudson, New Hampshire, United States. It closed in 1987, after having been renamed New England Playworld for its final year. The state of New Hampshire acquired the property in 1989 and transferred it to the town of Hudson in 2009. It is being developed as a public park and nature area.
I come here at least 3 days a week to hike the numerous trails around this area. Its great for family events and there is a large playground here. The area is well maintained by the Hudson community, and as you walk around there are landmarks and plaques that mark sites where parts of the park have been lost to time used to exist along with restored parts of the park. On weekends in the summer they have an open barn (the old lion cages) with small souvenirs shop, and food. The park also contains a 9/11 memorial with part of an I beam from the towers which is a wonderful touch to the park. Also rumor has it that there are dead elephant skeletons buried on the grounds as well, I don't know the legitimacy of that statement but its kind of cool in a morbid way. Overall great park to explore and go to if you are in the area.
