“A living museum home to a wealth of animal life”
An oasis of serenity and natural beauty along Cypress Creek, Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens is a horticultural masterpiece. These 300 acres of East Texas Piney Woods showcase the region’s largest collection of native and cultivated plants. A living museum, it is also home to a wealth of animal life. The arboretum on the west side of Aldine Westfield features two playgrounds, a picnic area nestled in a woodland setting with 58 picnic tables, two barbecue pavilions, hickory bog, boardwalk, cypress swamp, maple collection and several miles of walking trails that wind through beautifully preserved woodlands.Mercer is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Very beautiful botanic garden with trails on the west side. West side is dog friendly but the botanic garden is not. If you want to see the latter then the pups will have to stay at home or you could make another trip like we did.
