Tijuana Estuary is a small intertidal coastal estuary on the international border between California and Mexico. The estuary has extreme differences in its streamflow, experiencing periods of dryness at time and flood inundations at others - making it an 'intermittent estuary'. Tijuana Estuary is considered to be a very unique part of the National Estuarine Research Reserve System. The Point of Interest has a visitor center as well as trails. Visitors can view over 370 species of migratory and native birds in the habitat.
