“one giant flying bird”
Free and open to the public Located in Indian Shores, Florida is the Giant Pelican statue. This large pelican is situated right in front of the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary. This statue is perfect for a quirky photo-op or perhaps just a nice place to stretch your legs while you travel. Stop and check it out!
We stopped here while we were at Indian Shore for the week. Our daughters loved seeing the birds up close. Ton of pelicans, herons, and other birds. Really cool and worth the stop if you are in the area.
The Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary is free to the public, open most of the time, and completely run on donations alone. It's a hospital for birds that may have been snagged by a fishermen, or otherwise injured. The Sanctuary has its own hospital and either recuperates the birds and sets them back into the wild, or keeps them well fed and taken care of if they won't make it out in the wild. A must see, just for the sake of the birdies :)
My family always makes sure to visit suncoast every time we are in Florida for vacation <3
