“a bustling, friendly bistro”
Red Hat began as a lark in 2003. We longed for a bustling, friendly bistro in Irvington. Why not create it? With a little luck, a lot of work and the continued support of our friends, the Red Hat enjoyed four and a half years on Main Street. In 2007 we were fortunate to have the opportunity to move to our spectacular waterfront home on Bridge Street. Our business has evolved and grown over the years, but our philosophy has remained the same: strive for excellence in food and service, use only the finest quality ingredients in our preparations, and create an atmosphere that sets us pleasantly apart from the rest. Our goal is to have our guests feel welcomed, well fed and well taken care of when they visit Red Hat. We believe dining out should be a respite from the daily routine and hope to provide that experience. We often recall what food writer Ruth Reichl said of the legendary Andre Soltner of Lutece because the sentiment is one we admire: “Mr. Soltner may have been a great chef, but he was an even greater restaurateur. He knew how to do more than feed people – he knew how to make them happy.”
