Ratings Summary
If climbing a mountain is on you bucket list, you might want to take a look at Mt Monadnock (it's one of the most climbed mountains in the world). It's about a 3-4 hour round-trip to the summit, all of which can be done on foot. I would highly recommend the experience. The main trail can be hiked by children and families, but you might travel a bit slower. From what I remember, the trips I took as a child took about 3 hours each way.
We stayed at the Mt Monadnock Gilson Pond Campground and it was great. The facilities were clean, the store was well stocked and the sites were well positioned. Tent sites had a platform to place the tent on. Monadnock is a steep climb and there are boulder fields, so plan to get your heart rate going!
