“home to gorgeous driftwood”
Located on the north end of Jekyll Island, Driftwood beach will amaze you with the beautiful driftwood and trees that resemble a tree graveyard. This is due to the north end of the island slowly eroding away and being deposited on the south end of the island. Driftwood beach offers a wonderful location for photographs and is a very popular site for weddings. Driftwood beach extends from the Clam Creek Picnic Area to the Villas By The Sea Resort and Conference Center and is only a short walk away from the Jekyll Island Campground. From Clam Creek Picnic Area, simply follow signs for the Wildlife Viewing Area and take the paved walkway toward Clam Creek. Walk over the bridge and you will see two beach access points toward the left. Multiple beach access points along North Beachview Drive also provide access to Driftwood beach. You can park at designated parking areas along the road, next to each beach access point.
Mosquito repellent is a must. I thought mosquitos were bad where I’m from. It’s like when you hit a beehive and get attacked by bees, that’s how bad it was. The beach itself was incredible. I went right when the sun was rising. Just beautiful. Wish I could’ve spent more time there.
It's absolutely amazing.... beautiful
Once you get through the initial gate and pay just a small parking fee, you drive several miles to get to the beach. It’s a very short walk to see the trees. It is so beautiful! I went later in the day and there was plenty of parking.
Un lugar perfecto para pasar un fin de semana. Rutas en bicicleta, picnic o pasear por la playa. Unas vistas preciosas!
Super beautiful place to visit!! Lots of photographs were taken when a group of friends and I went yesterday. Not too many people were there which was great and those who were there brought their dogs which simply made it perfect. My friends and I, a group of Floridians, thought it was an amazing beach and well worth the drive!
This place is an amazing place to visit. The entire stretch of beach has old trees fallen over and smoothed by the sea. Great spot for photos and long walks. Very relaxing place. Find a little seat on a tree and sit and relax listening to the waves. This was one of my favorite spots on the island.
