“A green oasis in the middle of Metropolitan northern New Jersey”
Liberty State Park is a green oasis in the middle of Metropolitan northern New Jersey. With the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island as a spectacular backdrop, Liberty State Park is one of the state's most dramatic parks.
We visited Liberty State Park because it was close to our hotel. We were able to book the ferry to take us over to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. I really enjoyed visiting the park. It was very relaxing and you were able to see the one World Trade Center. When you arrive, at the site, you'll be directed to go through a white tent for security purposes before getting on the ferry. We actually visited this during the off-season and we did not wait in line for anything. I would hate to go when it is in season because it is huge and there's a lot of walking and a lot of lines! You also have to park in the ferry parking lot, which is paid parking. It is also heavily patrolled by police which makes it very safe!
We took our 4yr old and 7yr old here.
Free admission and parking( all the way down on the left).
Great views of NYC, Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn bridge.
Also see historic Central Railroad of NJ. See the old tracks and train station. Train station was built in 1889 and many original parts still remain. 10/10 recommend bringing a packed lunch and enjoying this beautiful place.
Beautiful park and such a great space for tourists and natives alike!
Absolutely incredible view of New York City. A must stop if you don't have time to go into the city but want to at least see it.
Spectacular views of Manhattan, great walking tracks and shade on hot days. Some free parking for up to 2 hours.
