“a work of 3d story telling”
Created by artist and "geographer at large" Eames Demetrios, "Kcymaerxthaere is a global (and more) work of 3-dimensional story telling," according to the official Kymaerica website. "It is an alternative universe that is largely consistent with our linear world in some ways, though it has many different stories, rules, creatures, even laws of science it seems. Among other things, the geographer-at-Large and his colleagues go around our linear world to find points of contact with Kcymaerxthaere and then honor these places with markers and, where possible, actual historical sites." "In a way, it is a bit like a novel with every page in a different place," the website continues. "Reading our markers and sites in situ is a kind of transformative experience that connects you to possibilities and stories in a whole new way. And it is important to note that no one is expected to visit every site. But, even if you just visit a few, it informs how you consider the rest - even when you see them only online. It is like anything else that seems different in person. And, of course, though the markers and sites are the most prominent aspect of Kcymaerxthaere (at least in our linear world), the stories are too big to fit on the plaques. There is plenty to learn from the Geographer-at-Large’s talks, this site, and any of the various publications we do (or are planning to do)." This particular site was a bit out of the way in Joshua Tree, California. Located on Border Road about a block south of Crestview, the plaque was first revealed to the public on October 23, 2004, even though there was no formal ceremony for its dedication. The site preserves the remnants of the fictional Krblin Jihn's cabin. Jihn, the legendary interpreter of the Jihn Wranglikan bible according to the Kymaerica series, lived for most of his life at this spot.
This is a super cool site to visit! I highly recommend it. Especially around sunset. However, it’s important that you look up the kabin on google maps instead of hitting navigate from this app. The app will take you to the wrong place.
