Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on July 31, 2021We stayed of a night as we headed East from the Black Hills. The staff and owner were very nice and the site/facility was well equipped and clean. It was a good place for a quick overnight stop.
The staff was nice when we checked in. It was super windy out, which according to the check in pamphlet is normal. There's really nothing around for miles and the campground store has a VERY limited selection. The bathrooms were clean and the showers had hot water. Overall, it was a great place to rest for the evening before we continued on our journey to the Black Hills.
This is a tired and run-down KOA that could use some investment and sprucing up. The sites are tight, even by KOA standards. We moved once to try and eliminate some electrical gremlin which kept on tripping our GFI outlet. Our power management system said everything was Ok but the GFI outlet kept on tripping, even after the move. Finally we decided just to do without the appliances on the GFI circuit. The owners were quite nice about the move and indicated that a previous guest in our site did not report any electrical issues. We just let this slide.
Access off of I-90 was very easy and there was so much wind we couldn’t hear any noise from the highway but this could be an issue if the wind was calmer. Be aware of this issue if this is important to you.
We would consider staying here again only if our travel plans put us in the area and we needed a quick overnight spot. There are more campground options a bit east of here near Chamberlain, SD and next time we would probably consider one of those. But if we had to stay here overnight another time down the road we would survive.

This KOA was ok for spending the night. We did not use any of the facilities. The host were friendly and helpful. There was a little road noise. Probably would not stay again.

Stopped here for just the night. Envelope for our site was in the late arrival box. Pretty small property but has all the bare minimum you might need. My only complaint was the WiFi. Not surprising, like most RV campgrounds, the WiFi might had well been non-existent. There were 4 different KOA WiFi’s to choose from, none of which would hold a solid connection. They need to have someone go in there and re-do all that. Other than the WiFi, this place served its purpose.

We called from the road about 30 miles away and were relieved to hear they one site available that would fit our rig. They said it was small but we were grateful to find a spot last minute. The site has full hookups and fairly fast wifi and cost $67 and some change. They had a laundry consisting of 2 washers ($3/load) and 2 dryers (25 cents/5 minutes) and a folding table and hanging rack. They did the clothes like any other commercial laundry (wrinkled) but it was a relief to get the laundry done. The hosts were friendly. The reason for the low rating is because I was charged $2.34 for leaving the site after checkout time. Maybe you'll think this is fair, but I don't. In the morning there was a heavy thunder storm with lots of rain and lightening. Checkout was at 10:30am and hubby called the registration office about 9am asking if it'd be a problem if we were a little late leaving so he wouldn't have to get soaking wet taking care of the utilities and such. We were told if we left after 11am there'd be an hourly charge. The rain didn't stop, hubby got wet, we left at 11:04am, and we got charged $2.34 for 4 minutes. I think that's a touch cold and for that reason we will not be back, and the low star rating.

KOA Journeys typically get people staying for a single night so I give them a lot of credit for having a brand new playground and maintaining a swimming pool! Our kids had a blast and we were grateful for this pit stop!
Drainage both from the rain and woman’s restroom. Map listed dog walk and not a dog park. Wash / dry was $3 / 2. Woman restroom needs a handicap stall.
