“Family owned and operated since 1981”
The stock car track at Penton went from a dream of Mr. Larry Edge to reality in 1981. Back in 1981 the first ever race at Penton Raceway was ran on a Sunday afternoon, as word of the speedway began to spread, racers from all over East Central Alabama, and West Central Georgia, began making their way to Penton to test their cars, and driving skills against one another. After a few years, racers and fans requested that the track move their racing to Friday nights so people could spend their Sunday afternoons with family. The Edge family heard these requests and installed lights, and began racing on Friday nights, and have been ever since, with racing usually starting in early April, and completing in Early September. Penton Raceway’s Stock Car facility has always remained a family owned & operated organization, owned by Mr. Larry Edge & his family of Penton, Alabama.
