“once known as the "million dollar playground"”
Indian Lake State Park is located in Logan County about 15 miles northwest of Bellefontaine. Islands, coves & wetlands in the 5,800-acre lake add interest for boaters, birders, anglers and nature lovers. Once known as the "Million Dollar Playground", this family-friendly park is a favorite with modern campers. Hike 8 miles of nature trails & refuel with a picnic at a scenic area offering tables, grills & reservable shelterhouses. Nature programs & a nature center provide entertainment all summer. Sandy swimming beaches are located close to the campground and picnic areas. From sailing to speedboats, all sorts of boating is permitted on the lake with no hp limit. Marina offers boating supplies, refreshments, boat & seasonal dock rental. Fishing for bass, saugeye, crappie, walleye, yellow perch & catfish can be enjoyed from the shoreline or on the lake. Hunting is permitted in designated areas. A valid Ohio fishing and/or hunting license is required. The campground offers 440 campsites with electric hookups, and 13 full-hookup sites with electric, sewer & water. Pets are allowed on designated sites. Amenities include showers, restrooms, laundry facilities, commissary, miniature golf & bike rental.
This is still a great place to camp. While growing up I went camping here every summer. There was tons of stuff to do and I was never bored. Now the campground looks better but lacks the attractions to keep kids happy. There used to be a go cart track down the road, and the park's arcade is now a storage facility. The beach at the park is still quite nice and they've renovated most of the playgrounds at the campground. I still love this place, but it's not what it once was.
