“an old-school late night joint”
You'd drive right past this place if you weren't looking for it. Which is just fine with the Mars Bar. Located at the dark, quiet intersection of Madison and Mars, it stands out because it doesn't. The Mars Bar, you see, isn't an Irish pub or sports bar -- it's an old-school joint that attracts scruffy rockers, laid-back barflies, frat dudes, partyers, Galaga fans and movie buffs. (The place hosts a Sunday flickathon.) Of course, with such a wide-ranging clientele, you never really know what you're going to get here. But with just a glowing round sign to guide you, the regulars are all Martians. Yo, take me to your leader . . . and gimme a Miller High Life and some quarters for the Galaga machine.
