“Haunted since the 1800's”
In the 1850's the restaurant was the home of an affluent Mexican family named Maese. One day the family hired a maid named Ines. The family had a teenage son named Armando, who fell in love with the maid, much to the distress of his mother. Love persisted however and Carlota, the mother, came home one afternoon to find the two lovers romantically entwined in her bedroom. Enraged at what she saw, the mother grabbed a pair of scissors and went towards Ines in order to stab her to death. In a attempt to protect his lover, Armando leaped in front of Ines, and Carlota stabbed her son in the scuffle. Armando soon died from his wound. Ines escaped the bloody scene and was not seen in town for over a year. Carlota became a bitter and antagonistic woman. One evening, Ines returned to Mesilla in disguise but was recognized in the plaza by a drunken cowboy. A confrontation occurred between the two, and Ines was fatally shot. Local citizens, unaware of her identity, brought her wounded body into Carlota's home and placed it inside Carlota's very own bedroom. It was there on Carlota's bed that Ines died. Employees and guest alike say that the ghosts of the young lovers inhabit the Carlota Salon to this day. The ghosts apparently make their presence known in several different ways. Broken glasses and turned over chairs are found in the morning when opening up the building, inspite of high tech detection alarms which are installed throughout the building. The alarm system itself has a habit of going off by itself. When local law enforcement arrives and enters the building, they are unable to find anyone.
Didn't get to go inside the restaurant (too expensive) but the town Las Cruces itself has a very cool town center with a beautiful basilica nearby to check out.
The name of the restaurant is Double Eagle. They also have a less expensive restaurant called Peppers.

We saw our knife move across our plate. The ghost like to move silverware.
