“A party all year long!”

One of the most visible aspects of Las Vegas' cityscape is its use of dramatic architecture. The modernization of hotels, casinos, restaurants, and residential high-rises on the Strip has established the city as one of the most popular destinations for tourists. Perfect for any age (although being over 21 certainly helps) and family looking for a great weekend getaway!  The Las Vegas Strip is a stretch of South Las Vegas Boulevard in Clark County, Nevada internationally known for the concentration of resort hotels and casinos along its route. The Strip is approximately 4.2 miles (6.8 km) in length, located immediately south of the Las Vegas city limits in the unincorporated towns of Paradise and Winchester. Most of the Strip has been designated an All-American Road, and is considered a scenic route at night. Many of the largest hotel, casino, and resort properties in the world are located on the Las Vegas Strip. Fifteen of the world's 25 largest hotels by room count are on the Strip, with a total of over 62,000 rooms.

I personally have mixed reviews on the Vegas Strip.. If you want to party, spend a ton of money on food and get free drinks while you gamble then the strip is fantastic! Also the shows can be absolutely amazing and the general experience of vegas is something that has to be experienced at least once!

The negatives are the amount of money you are at risk of spending and the smoke inside everywhere atmosphere but for me (being a photographer) the buildings and cityscape make turn it into something on the definite hit list!

I've been the the Las Vegas Strip several times, and I have to say that I have mixed feelings about my experiences there. On the one hand, there is so much to do and see, the party never really stops no matter what time of day it is, and it's easy to get swept up in the excitement. However, there tend to be a lot of drunk, stupid, and annoying people walking around at any given time, which can really ruin your mood if you let it. But, this does make for some very fun people watching! The Strip really is quite long and intense, so I'd recommend not trying to take it all in in one day or night. A good plan of action is to walk a little ways, then duck into any given casino for a few games, and to remember that you get free drinks while you're playing, even if you're playing a cheap game, so do take advantage! It's easy to spend a lot of money very quick while in Vegas, but if you're smart about it, you can have a pretty cheap trip. A word of advice, if any locals on the street approach you offering to give away any coupons, flyers, tours, or "free" admissions to shows or clubs, it's best to just ignore them or say "no thanks" and walk away, because once they give you their "free advice" and coupons, they insist on tips and will hound you for blocks yelling at you if you refuse. And if you want to take picture with the various street performers, it's good form to give them a small tip too.

I have a love/hate relationship with the strip, but the memories always tend to favor the good times and keeps me itching to get back. If you haven't been, the strip is actually much longer than you might imagine, and each block is filled with gaudy, gigantic, unnecessary building and monuments (but they are remarkable). One place that probably gets overlooked but is one of my favorites is Paris... the buffet there is amazing, the tables are fun/reasonably priced, and the nightclub overlooks the fountains (the view is crazy).

All I have to say is the strip is wildly entertaining. I remember walking the strip in the middle of the day with my sister and parents, I was probably no more 12 yrs old at the time and my dad kept getting handed these cards like right and left and then discarding them in the nearest trash cans. Apparently he was being handed some kind of hooker calling card lol. So that didn't thrill my mom obviously but other than the somewhat trashy vibe the strip can give off at times, I think it's a cool place to visit as a family. You really can't go wrong when it comes to choosing a restaurant and there's a pretty amazing array of stores to choose from if you want to get a little shopping done. I saw Phantom of the Opera while I was there and it was amazing.

I've had some weird experiences in Vegas. Once, I was in town for an interview. Another time, for a conference. Another time, for a marathon. I've never done it right. It's been alright each time, but I want to go back to get the classsssssic experience-- gambling, free drinks, strippers, clubs, staying up until sunrise. You know. That type of stuff.

One of the more interesting activities I did was bungee jump off the stratosphere, but it was pretty expensive and I don't think it was worth it (except for story telling).

The strip is truly something to see. Of course, the highlight for me is that you can walk down the strip with a beer in hand. The hooker peddlers are ridiculously annoying. Don't say "no thanks" or try to be polite, just walk right by them. You already know the spots to see- the dancing fountains, etc., but keep in mind it can get chilly at night in Vegas depending what time of year you visit.

The strip is great for people-watching, and honestly grabbing a footlong margarita makes it a hell of a lot more fun. Seriously, people in Vegas are hilarious to watch. My favorites are the busloads of bachelorette and bachelor party crews that stumble down the strip all day and all night. I don't gamble, but I love a good drink, and Vegas is definitely a drinking town.

One of those places that words can't really do justice to.

No matter what you're looking for, you can probably find it on the Strip. The drinks and gambling are a given, of course, but the people watching is spectacular (as Derek mentioned). You can find things there you won't find anywhere else.

I've been Vegas on my 24th birthday and what a weekend it was. The Strip has got to be one of the most fun places in the world for adults. With endless options to eat, drink, see, play, etc. you can't go wrong with whatever you're into. The first night we did a "hotel" hop wanting to see as much as we could. The second night we did a "bar" hop wanting to also see the best clubs available. This was a mistake because covers are insane, because they can be. People watching is second to none. No open container law makes the night that much better not worrying about chugging your drink before moving to the next place. Finally, be aware of the street hustlers trying to sell you the next best deal on something they're promoting, you can get it yourself without their help I guarantee. Definitely a must see after the age of 21.

You have to see the "shows" of the Dancing Fountains at the Bellagio, and the Volcano at the Mirage. Vegas also has some nooks and crannies. I am a huge Pete Rose fan, and meeting the Hit King (he's always at a store signing autographs on weekday afternoons in the mall between Luxor and Mandalay Bay) was a thrill for me. For me, Vegas is about seeing a show, my favorites were the Beatles Love show and Blue Man Group. I guess what I'm saying is, go for the acts and shows along the strip. Give yourself a budget on gambling and stick to it!! If you reach your limit, stop. Go see the shows.
