“carved in the 1930's”

The opening in the Chandelier Drive-Thru Tree was carved in the 1930's. To the right are Hazel and Charlie Underwood along with the foresters who helped carve the opening. At approximately 6' wide by 6'9" high there is ample space for the cars of today to pass through the tunnel. You will notice all of the roads in the Park are dirt roads, they are paved with "nature's speed bumps". Please heed the 5 mile an hour speed limit. If you drive slower you can enjoy the beauty and varied plants, or you might catch a glimpse of the deer hiding alongside the road.

Meh. The fee is not very high ($5), but after spending 2 days hiking around in the Redwood National and State Parks, visiting the Drive Thru Tree felt like the Disneyland version of the redwood forest. We ended up sitting in the line to drive through the tree for about 45 minutes while people either got their cars stuck or had to take a million different pictures of themselves with the tree. Save yourself the hassle and go visit the Avenue of Giants, which is free, not very far away, has way fewer people, and has a bunch of trees that are similar in size to the Drive Thru Tree. You can't drive through any of them, but it is overall a much more worthwhile experience.

Unlike a previous reviewer, we were fortunate enough to go near the end of the day when there was almost no line to drive through the tree. I thought 5 bucks was certainly reasonable for the fun experience.

Fun place to experience more classic road tripping kitch. There is a fee to get in. If you plan on driving through the tree, both wide and tall SUVs and minivans are a tight squeeze or may not fit at all (watch those mirrors!). There's a small gift shop with drinks and snacks. This location also has a picnic area that's great for letting the kids run around and burn off excess energy!

Large redwood that a car can squeeze through. Family owned for generations. There is a gift shop. It was an interesting stop. Entry fee - not much. Look up to see the towering redwood.

Fun Tourist Trap. It's cheesey but you will love it. Take fun pictures at the tree and bigfoot statue, go to the gift shop to grab your trinket and move on!

It was a 10$ entry fee. But worth the famous photo op. Not the largest trees in the lil drive thru park, they’re still super spectacular! The gift shop was pretty cute also
