“Delicious Thai cuisine in Lewisburg, PA!”
Enjoy the best Thai cuisine available anywhere without even leaving Lewisburg. Poy is cooking the best of the best Thai food right here in town! Poy fostered a passion for cooking long before arriving in Pennsylvania for the first time in December 2008, imagining even as a child that one day she would open a Thai restaurant somewhere. She originally learned to cook from her mom and grandmothers in her hometown of Sukhothai, and later by working at her aunt’s restaurant in Bangkok during school breaks. She sought every opportunity to learn new dishes, volunteering to help in the kitchen as often as possible. Poy attended university in a neighboring province where she met Adrian, and then graduated in March 2004 with a major in English Education. Even as an elementary school teacher in Bangkok, Poy often prepared food at home and brought it to school for students and co-workers to try. In anticipation of opening a Thai restaurant in Lewisburg, Adrian enrolled Poy at Krua Wandee Culinary School in Bangkok. The course, which she completed in May 2008, introduced her to culinary art which laid the groundwork for her amazing fruit carving ability. After mulling over the prospect during her first two years in Pennsylvania, in summer 2011 Poy and Adrian finally rented out a cozy space in downtown Lewisburg where Poy could make her childhood dream come true. In making Siam Café a reality, she strives to apply the principles that she had formulated since childhood of providing great original Thai food, made of the freshest and healthiest ingredients, in a spotlessly clean environment where customers feel welcome the moment they walk in. Noi started cooking Thai food professionally upon moving to the United States in 2001 from Bangkok, Thailand. She was born in the north-eastern region of Thailand known as Isaan, and grew up working on the family farm along with her younger sister. She first learned cooking as a child from her mother and grandmother in a style influenced by the family's diverse Thai, Laotian, and Chinese heritage. Noi moved to Bangkok in 1992 to run a laundry shop, after which she moved to New Jersey. In 2003 she moved to a small town in north-eastern Pennsylvania called Benton where a local restaurant owner agreed to give a try at offering some Thai dishes. The results were phenomenal and within a year customers were arriving from far afield for a taste of Noi's family recipes. Poy and Adrian got word of this Thai wonder chef, and so gave her food a try in October 2009. They became close friends and, after Siam Café became well established, Noi decided to make the move to Lewisburg in June 2012.
I had Siam's food twice. I really loved the vermicelli salad but felt okay with the green curry. I was fine with the curry being somewhat watered down in terms of consistency and mild in flavor... Read more
2 1/2 stars. Considering the reviews, was very disappointing. Ordered the Yellow Pineapple Curry and it was almost inedible. The curry was thin, with no depth and no flavor. It definitely needed... Read more
Very nice restaurant in downtown Lewisburg, PA. It was a beautiful summer evening, so we sat outside. Nice clean area and well maintained. Everything we ate was super fresh and full of flavor. Read more
