“tap your heels together three times”

“Just when you thought that the dream of the Land of Oz was out of your reach there appears before you the Land of Oz in Liberal!  This facility consists of 5,000 square feet of animated entertainment.  There are good and bad witches, the Munchkins, talking trees, winged monkeys, and of course, Dorothy, the Scarecrow and Tin Man as well as the loveable Cowardly Lion.  Oh, of course, Toto is there too! Stroll along the Yellow Brick Road with Dorothy, Auntie Em or Uncle Henry as your tour guide.  Ask all the questions you want and learn even more about the wonderful world of Oz. When you get to the end of the Road you will find Oz memorabilia on display, including the original model of Dorothy’s house used in the 1939 filming of the movie "The Wizard of Oz."  The Munchkin room is a delight in little dresses and shoes, with many pictorial accounts of the Munchkins and their careers.”

Really just for kids and great fans of the movie. The people are very friendly, though.

Fun but you need to do the paid tour to see most of it. Dorothy takes you through her house and then through Oz. It's the story done in little vignettes of mannequins, painted scenes, and lighting affects. Be sure to get there well before closing time. The last tour was scheduled for 5:30 but left before we got there at 5:15. We were initially told they were done for the day, but we did end up getting to see. They also have a cute playground.

My son and I visited some years ago. It was unscheduled, but they opened up the exhibits early just for us! These are wonderful people in Liberal.Yes, it's not elaborate, but it's very cool stuff. Don't expect a soundstage, however. I's a little quaint and a little kitschy, but in a nice way. We bought a "Good Witch" souvenir shirt to bring home to my wife. "Dorothy" was great! She signed it for us! When we got it home, the writing and signature had disappeared! Guess we're not in Oz anymore. If you're a fan of the film, I recommend a visit.

much smaller than expected. Got there on an off day so we weren't allowed to go into much of the display sadly.

Got there after they closed but the kids enjoyed posing with the cutout characters. You can push a button to play Oz music. Fun if you're in the town, don't go too far out of your way for it.

Went here with my daughter and cousins years ago. From Joplin Mo we drove and drove for what seemed like forever through a non scenery filled part of Kansas which is no big surprise :) My cousins, grandma and mom had all grown up watching the movie together at least once a year so we made a trip to see a part of our childhood memories. The gift shop is really nice (of course you pay gift shop prices but they have good quality things you dont see many other places). Dorothy's house and the big metal shed that you tour through were small and not really all that memorable in my opinion but for our family there were some good photo opportunity spots. I guess if you are in Kansas and have extra time for browsing and nothing else to do or are a serious Oz lover willing to tour a small decently random put together place then this would be a choice.

The Wizard of Oz has been a childhood classic for generations, and since you're in Kansas, your road trip along US 83 is about to take a detour into the Land of Oz... but not before you tour Dorothy's house (they kind of take some liberties with the details). It's a nice reminder that there really is no place like home!
