We stayed 3 nights in site 12, which was an open site on grass overlooking Lake St. George. This is a popular place for those that fish and own motorboats, as there is a mice boat launch right next door. The lake is a crystal clear, deep and picturesque body of water. We kayaked in the early morning when the water was still, and had close encounters with loons, which was special.

The site was fairly level and large with plenty of room to set up our tiny 6 x 8 camper, our truck, a 10 x 10 canopy with room to spare. There are waterfront sites that are quite large but some were fairly unlevel. Sites 21, 22, 23 and 30 seemed particularly nice. The sites are close together, but roomy, and the sites away from the water are wooded. A huge plus is that it is a small campground with less than 40 sites so it never felt cramped.

There is a main bathroom/shower facility. It is unique in that there are about 10 individual bathrooms with their own shower. They are cleaned daily and the water gets hot. Another thing we appreciated was a great dishwashing station on the side of the bathhouse.

There is a day use area a short walk from the campground that has a small swimming area that kids enjoy, and many picnic tables set right on the lake.

This is not a campground we would stay at for an extended period, as there is not much in the immediate vicinity, but it is within 15 minutes to the cool town of Belfast on the Penobscot Bay and within 45 minutes of the popular and touristy town of Camden which has a beautiful harbor and many shops and restaurants.

One down side is the road noise. The campground is situated right on Route 3, a fairly busy state highway connecting Augusta and Belfast on the coast. It does get quiet at night, but it can detract from the experience.

Overall, this is a quaint, well-maintained little state park great for a weekend on the water.

Very nice campground and beautiful lake, clean, nice size sites, some good for solar, wifi available. Only down side is the highway noise. It's tolerable during the day but it's kind of busy at night too.

We were traveling north to Acadia NP and needed an overnight stop. This was almost perfect, no water or electric but much more pleasant then a Walmart parking lot! Called ahead, but they mark a map on the small ranger station showing open sites if you arrive after hours. They have a clean bathhouse, a dump station, and hose for potable water. Most sites have no screening, but several are waterfront or have water views. We had good T Mobile service, but the road noise is noticeable. Went to check out the playground area and was shocked by all the trash left by day visitors. Not what we were use to seeing in Maine and wonder if it was deliberate, leaving containers for someone to pick up and return for cash??

We were traveling to the Maine coast and needed a spot before dark, so this was a convenient stop for us. Unfortunately Route 3, a well traveled road from Augusta to Belfast, passes right behind the campground. So during the day there is a fair amount of road noise. At night there is less.

Most sites have a view of the lake, as well as a dozen or so lake side sites. The pads are grass and dirt, so they can be uneven. Sites vary in size, so view the pictures carefully, as well as look at the site size. The sites in the middle section tend to be more level than the ones along the lake or nearest the road in the woods. The sites in the middle also tend to be larger and many work as pull throughs.

We did not use the bathroom, but did check them out. For the size of the campground there are 10 individual unisex stalls with shower, seat, toilet and wash basin. The camping area up the hill is the furthest from the bathhouse, but there is a pit or vault toilet.

The public access area includes the beach which is a walk or bike from the campground. By the size of the parking lot for the boat ramp, this is probably a popular place on the weekends.
