“a gem of Georgia’s freshwater coast”
This park is located on the western shore of 71,100 acre Clarks Hill Lake, one of the largest lakes in the Southeast. With its boat ramps and accessible fishing pier, it is especially popular with anglers and boaters. A sandy swimming beach welcomes visitors to cool off during Georgia summers. Rental cottages are located on the lake’s edge, and the spacious campground is nestled into the forest. Tent campers will enjoy extra privacy in the walk-in section. Elijah Clark State Park is named for a frontiersman and Georgia war hero who led pioneers during the Revolutionary War. A log cabin replica of the Clark home displays furniture, utensils and tools circa 1780 and is open weekends April through November. Visitors can also view the graves of Clark and his wife, Hannah.

This is a great camp ground outside of Augusta, Ga. near Clark Hill. Lake Thurmond is a Great Lake to fish, swim, boat, or kayak. We did all. There is putt putt and corn hole near a replica of Elijah Clark’s home that one can explore. All were still closed due to Covid-19. Sites were fairly level but close to one another. Bathrooms were clean. There is washer/dryers but closed to Covid-19. This camp ground is very popular in the summer And is very busy on and off the lake. I would also recommend Calhoun Falls State Park on the South Carolina side if this campground is busy. We will be coming back. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed our stay here. The lake was beautiful, and the camp site was spacious. We had little trouble getting pulled into our site. Once set up, we were in our own world. Most other campers were friendly, and everyone was quiet after hours. Some campsites looked like they were set up by long term stayers, and were a little trashy.
Cell coverage was weak at best, and no available wifi that I could find.
Site power had no 50 amp, but two 30 amp connections. Water pressure was good, cable was available.

Arrived with another onsite reserved. Had to take a lower standard site in order not to make customer move. Restrooms not clean no soap or towels. A few good lake sites without being crowed. More of family and kids place.

This was our first time at this campground. The site was huge and was backed up to a large lot/wooded area with privacy and it's a corner lot.
It did not have lake or waterfront access. The bath house was directly across the road. Very quiet and peaceful. We look forward to staying again.

This park is located on the GA/SC line. There are 2 sizable loops. There are some really good spots and some not so great spots. Most of the less desirable spots are not on the lake. We also noted that several of the pull thru sites (including ours) had a tree or 2 you had to deal with maneuvering around.
Going in the off season, it was peaceful and serene. But, we got a taste of what it was like in the prime months as there were some With this being on the lake, lots of boats and people driving around in their golf carts. If this isn’t your thing, keep that in mind.
Check in was easy. There are plenty of hosts around. The bathhouses were in good shape.
The park also has hiking trails, miniature golf, picnic areas, playground, boat launch and archery.
Our site was a pull thru on the lake. We did have to maneuver the trailer around to get the angle we wanted because of a tree creating a bad angle. But, site was large and we had great views of the lake and no one was around us.
Cell service great. I was able to hook up and stream Netflix, etc.
Definitely worth a visit. I’m sure we’ll be back.

We traveled to Georgia to get a jump on spring and get some warmer weather. It was just what the doctor ordered. We arrived on March 1 and stayed in camp #2 site 94. The hosts were welcoming and friendly. One even made us a bucket light, as we had never seen one prior, yes we are newbies. The pull thru site was a little slanted towards the water, but no big deal to level out the trailer. The views were awesome. Sunrise over the pines across the lake. Wildlife is abundant. Blue Herons, geese, vultures, deer, woodpeckers, cardinals, blue birds, turtles, fox, possum, peepers, hawks, crows...
Campground #2 was quieter than #1. It was full on the weekends and sparse on the weekdays. We walked the loop a few times a day, night walk was our favorite for star gazing, even saw the most amazing shooting star of our lives, looked like it was going to hit the earth. Many of our neighbors had boats that they pulled up to their sites. There was a lot of fishing happening. Pet friendly spot, lots of dogs, which we enjoyed meeting many of them. The bathroom nearest us was an older building, there is a newer facility in camp #2, and could use an update, but the showers were hot, and other than wet floors from the showers, it was clean. Laundry unit has some issues, I guess the washers and dryers break down often. We had temps all over the place, 30’s at night during our stay and a high of 78 during the day. It felt like summer at times for us, so refreshing. I am working remotely and used the jetpack from Verizon with absolutely no issues. Even streamed a football game on the weekend. Oh yeah, they have a cable hook up, which was an added bonus that we didn’t even know about, 20+ channels. We went to McCormick for groceries at the Food Lion, had pizza and wings at Michelle’s, hit up the book store and the antique shop. Nice rural town. Lincolnton has a couple of nice boutiques. All in all a great 2 weeks in March. Reserve a spot if you can! Place is Amazing!

We've camped on this lake before so we love the easy access for kayaking - definitely a park for those who fish, boat or kayak. Ours site was in CG #2 on a corner point and should have had a fabulous view but vegetation and small trees blocked the view - a little maintenance would improve that dramatically. Site was fairly level and very large living area. Interior sites looked to be in much worse shape. While old, the bathrooms were kept very clean by camp hosts. Signage in the park leaves something to be desired though, no signs on CG roads as to direction or location of sites so we drive around a couple times before finding ours.
While there is a decent amount of room between sites so many people had multiple trailers, cars, golf carts, you name it on their sites which made it feel more crowded.
We would come again but found sites #112-115 had better views and more spacing. Loved kayaking around the lake.
A highlight for us was meeting a lovely couple who have their own frozen cheesecake food truck. They were traveling from a festival and generously gave us a couple pieces to taste. Oh my, so good.
Ingles Grocery about 20 miles away; The Hot Box Eatery in Washington had amazing fish tacos and potato wedges so if you are looking for good freshly cooked food, I'd go there.

We camped hosted here for 30 days in Campground 1, bath house 7. Views were outstanding.
WiFi at office. The park has the Elijah Clark house, open on weekends, Put-Put golf ($4), corn hole (free), basketball court and swimming beach. Each camping area has a boat ramp.
Sites have water, 30 or 50 amp service The park will be going to site specific reservation sometime this fall. There are 170 campsites. Sites 34 to 57 have the best views.
No pics, because the Verizon gal, reformat my SD card. Should of known better than to stop in and ask for help. We have /Verizon coverage, so don't know about other phone carriers.
If you like history, visit Washington Georgia, about 25 miles away.
