Iconic Attraction

Our Take

Since this incredible estate is located atop a hill, visitors have the option of taking a 15-minute walk or going for a short tram ride from the parking area. The tram is a very cool experience, even for someone who is usually afraid of heights. Once you arrive, you’re free to explore the campus, which features gardens, a museum, and several other buildings of architectural significance. It’s not as crowded as some other LA attractions, so you’ll be able to enjoy the experience and the art without worrying you’ll be interrupted by kids.

The Getty Center is a wonderful (and FREE) place to visit! There is a charge for parking. My children enjoyed the tram ride up to the museum grounds. There is a great deal of variety here; paintings, sculptures, mosaics, old Bibles, the list goes on and on. The view of L.A. from the upper floors is just incredible! My entire family enjoyed our visit here. We visited the Getty Villa on the same day and found the Getty Center to be far more impressive. Definitely worth your time, a wonderful day trip!

If you see the Getty Villa and Getty Center on the same day (except Monday's I think) you only have to pay for parking once.

The Architecture alone is something worth experiencing with beautiful views of the city as well as the ocean. The exhibits are very well curated. It's a wonderful trip all around and you can certainly spend the entire day there soaking it all in.

Parking is 20 but other than that you see everything free! And it is a beautiful place to see. It's lots of walking and great for the whole family. Trans move quickly with enough seating for most.
